Signal 24.02

February was a bit of a slog.

I felt very motivated in January and then February came and I felt like I hit a wall. Nothing was clicking creatively so I decided it was time to take a step back. I started working through a series I am calling “Creative Coding Basics”. I wrote about it here. It has been good to help me fill in some gaps in my skillset and I plan on doing more over the next couple of months in between working on other pieces.

Another 5K

I ran another 5K at the beginning of the month. Of course, it was on the first non-cool weekend of February, it had rained the day before and it was super humid. I started the race fine but I hit a wall with about half a mile left. I decided to walk for a few minutes, get my heart rate down, and catch my breath. I was able to finish the last bit of the race running and I take that as a win.

I take this as a bit of growth. Getting back to running since my surgery has been a feat. It has taken a lot of physical and mental work to get back to moving again. “Old me” would have been pretty upset having to walk in the middle of a race, that was the first time I had ever done that. But I am OK with it. I didn’t feel the need to beat myself up about it and chalked it up to factors outside of my control (the weather). So we keep moving forward, I have another 5K in March and I am hopeful it will be smoother.

Finally Seeing TENET in the Theater

TENET Movie Poster

If you know me well, I have probably talked to you about TENET. I fell in love with this film during the peak of COVID-19, I have seen it well over 20 times. I am a huge Christopher Nolan fan and really wanted to see this in the theater when it was released. We decided to play it safe and decided that was not the best move at the time. I contemplated renting out a theater to have a private screening with a few friends but I felt that was probably a bit crazy for a movie I had never seen. Fast forward to 2024, Nolan is an Oscar contender and Warner Bros. wants to make nice and decides to rerelease TENET in a few select IMAX theaters. I was ready to throw my wallet at my computer as soon as I heard the tickets were going to go on sale. Seeing it on IMAX was great! Maybe I will write a blog post about why I love this movie so much. For now, I am just glad I could experience this movie the way it was meant to be.

In Closing…

I don’t really have anything to end with this month. February just felt like another month, not one with a lot of progress but one with a little steps towards something bigger.
